Silverstone is partnering with a progressive Western Australian mining and civil contractor that continues to expand its footprint across Tier 1 mining operations throughout the state. With fleet numbers increasing, production ramping up, and additional maintenance crews being established, this is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term role where you can contribute to a high-performing operation while advancing your leadership career.
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting multiple Leading Hand Fitters across both Heavy Mobile Equipment and Drill Maintenance teams. These roles will see you providing hands-on leadership while remaining actively involved in maintenance activities across a modern mining fleet. Working on a FIFO 2/1 (days then nights) basis from Perth, you will play a key role in supporting equipment reliability, crew performance, and safe maintenance execution in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor maintenance personnel across workshop and field-based activities
- Coordinate daily maintenance schedules and task allocation
- Support safe and efficient execution of planned and breakdown maintenance
- Assist with diagnostics, troubleshooting and equipment fault finding
- Ensure maintenance work is completed to a high standard and in line with site requirements
- Promote a strong safety culture through leadership and compliance
- Monitor crew productivity, quality of work and operational performance
- Complete maintenance reporting and work management documentation
To be successful, you will possess:
- Australian-recognised Heavy Diesel Mechanic qualification
- Previous experience in a Leading Hand or supervisory maintenance role within mining is highly desirable but if you have extensive fitting please still apply
- Strong knowledge of heavy mining equipment including CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi
- For the drill roles, experience with Sandvik and/or Epiroc drill rigs highly regarded
- Proven capability in diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance
- Sound understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and basic electrical systems
- Strong leadership, communication and team coordination skills
- Commitment to safety and operational excellence
- Experience using maintenance management systems, preferably Pronto
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol screening and police clearance
