Finance Officer

Our client is a forward-thinking group of specialist consultancies delivering practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to the resources industry.

Their expertise spans mine closure, mineral waste management, water resources and contaminated sites, helping clients solve complex challenges while reducing environmental and social impacts. Due to continued growth and success, they are now looking for a Finance Officer to join their collaborative Finance team.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll play an important part in keeping their financial operations running smoothly — from accounts payable and invoicing through to payroll support and inter-entity transactions.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, commercially minded and confident working independently, with the initiative to look beyond the task at hand and understand the bigger picture.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Management Accountant, you’ll provide day-to-day support across the Finance function, including:

• Processing supplier invoices accurately and ensuring timely payment
• Managing and reconciling corporate credit card transactions
• Supporting project teams with invoicing
• Assisting with month-end inter-entity transactions and invoicing
• Managing supplier and customer enquiries professionally
• Processing periodic payroll and ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting reporting requirements
• Using Xero and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
• Working closely with the wider Finance and project teams to resolve issues and improve processes

Essential Criteria:

• 5+ years’ experience in a finance environment
• Strong Accounts Payable experience
• Proficiency in Xero – essential
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Confidence working independently and taking ownership
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to step outside the immediate task and take a big-picture approach
• A willingness to learn, contribute and look for better ways of doing things
