An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced SMP/Sustaining Capital Superintendent to join a growing lithium operation in Western Australia. This role will lead the safe delivery of sustaining capital, debottlenecking, and process plant upgrade projects within an operational fixed plant environment.
A key focus of the role is the planning and execution of major shutdowns occurring every six weeks, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal impact to production.
You will oversee SMP construction activities across shutdowns and sustaining capital works, managing contractors, schedules, and site coordination to deliver successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise SMP works including structural steel, piping, mechanical installation, and brownfields modifications.
- Plan and execute major shutdowns every 6 weeks, including preparation, sequencing, contractor management, and site coordination.
- Deliver sustaining capital, debottlenecking, and fixed plant upgrade projects across the operation.
- Oversee installation and maintenance activities involving conveyors, crushers, pumps, tanks, chutes, and rotating equipment.
- Manage contractor performance, safety, quality, and project delivery outcomes.
- Coordinate closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and commissioning teams to minimise production impacts.
- Drive construction readiness, permit coordination, QA/QC, and schedule performance.
- Promote strong safety leadership through pre-starts, toolbox meetings, and field engagement.
About You
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Boilermaking, or related discipline.
- Strong SMP construction experience within mining or minerals processing
- Proven experience managing major shutdowns in operational processing plant environments.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and structural steel experience.
- Experience delivering sustaining capital, brownfields, or process plant upgrade projects.
- Ability to lead contractors and multidisciplinary teams in FIFO environments.
- Strong understanding of shutdown planning, construction sequencing, and permit systems.
- Previous client-side supervisory experience highly regarded.
- WA Section 26 qualification and WA Driver’s Licence preferred.
