Production Engineer – Underground

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Production Engineer to join a high-performing underground mining team in Western Australia.
Reporting to the Senior Production Engineer, you will play a key role in optimising the safe recovery of the resource through accurate stope design, drilling plans and blasting plans. You will work closely with geology, geotechnical, mine planning and operational teams to support the delivery of the mine production schedule.
Key responsibilities:

  • Optimise stope designs to maximise recovery while maintaining safe mining practices
  • Develop safe work plans for vertical development, including stope slotting and raiseboring
  • Complete long-hole drill designs and support operators with the execution of drill patterns
  • Develop and issue preparation and charge plans
  • Conduct QA/QC activities across drilling and blasting operations
  • Identify suitable underground waste backfill areas and develop safe implementation plans
  • Monitor daily and weekly mine plan compliance
  • Work with the mine planning team to improve execution of the 12-week mining schedule
  • Collect, manage and analyse operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Complete primary and secondary ventilation surveys as required
  • Support business improvement initiatives across the mining cycle
  • Undertake improvement projects as directed by the Senior Production Engineer

To be successful, you will require:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
  • Previous experience within mechanised underground mining operations
  • Underground practical experience required for a WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency
  • Competency using Deswik
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Well-developed communication, time management and organisational skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines

The following experience will be highly regarded:

  • VentSim competency
  • Ventilation, infrastructure or project experience
  • Short-term mine scheduling experience

This position offers the opportunity to join a collaborative technical team and contribute directly to the safe and efficient delivery of underground mining operations.
